Praia Barra da Lagoa and Moçambique
The hostel is located in the Barra da Lagoa neighborhood, a 5-minute walk from the beach. Barra da Lagoa beach stretches for about 1km from the moles of the Barra Canal. It's a typical fishermen's beach with restaurants serving traditional coastal cuisine, perfect for families as it's situated in the most protected area of the bay. It's also great for beginners in surfing.
The next stretch of sand, up to Morro das Aranhas, is Praia do Moçambique, the most open part of the bay. The waves and currents are stronger making it perfect for intermediate surfers as it's not as strong as Praia Mole. Praia do Moçambique has a strip of preserved native vegetation along its entire 12km (it's the longest beach on the island), surrounded by the pine forest belonging to the Rio Vermelho Forest Park. It's one of the most preserved beaches on the island and is a great option for those looking for tranquility even during the high season.
From the nearest beach access to the hostel, it's possible to go to both beaches: to the right side it’s Praia da Barra da Lagoa with its seaside restaurants and surf schools; to the left, the long Praia do Moçambique full of vegetation.
